Quick Ride to Santa Cruz and Capitola (Gayle's Bakery) - August 15, 2010

Calaveras Road - looking north back towards Sunol. Summer's really here - California Gold! My 1988 R100RT BMW - best $500 investment ever! The reservoir east of Calaveras Road, slightly north and east of Milpitas. All our reservoirs appear to be at capacity this summer - a very welcome change from recent drought years. Calaveras Road is not a fast road but it is sure a welcome change from the Bay Area freeways. Looking south, towards Milpitas, San Jose, Santa Cruz, and my ultimate destination on this ride - Gayle's Bakery in Capitola by the Sea. Looking north - back towards Sunol, Pleasanton, and freeway points north. That odd windshield extensino is something I cobbled together while up in Humboldt County. The new windshield should arrive any day now. You can see how the extension is mounted with some nylong hardware I picked up at a great hardware store in Eureka. An assortment of bikes from the "Mad Dog" motorcycle club of the East Bay Area. My fried Richard Gibbon can be seen at the far end of the lineup in a white T-shirt. Richard and "Klaus," his trusty and pseudo-military R75/5 - runs just fine and just ticked over 90,000 miles on it.
